Julia Binder holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Technical University of Munich and an MSc in Marketing from the University of Edinburgh. In her research, Julia focuses on entrepreneurship beyond profit, including sustainable and social entrepreneurship, as well as the role that founders’ identities and cognitions play in identifying entrepreneurial opportunities for sustainable development. At EPFL Julia holds a post-doctoral research position at the Chair for Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization. In addition, she is involved in the management of EPFL’s recently launched Social Impact Initiative, which is a key instrument for enhancing the University’s social impact in the areas of education, research and innovation, as well as community engagement.
