EPFL is located just outside the city of Lausanne in Switzerland, on the shores of the largest lake in Europe, Lac Léman (or Lake Geneva) and at the foot of the Alps and the Mont-Blanc. Spanning over 65 hectares, EPFL regularly ranks among the best universities in Europe and in the world. With over 125 nationalities on campus, 50% of its faculty and 70% of its PhD students from abroad, the Times Higher Education Supplement recently rated EPFL as the world’s most international campus. The EPFL campus comprises 10,000 students and 4,500 employees studying and working on the most exciting scientific and technological challenges of our time.
The conference will take place at the SwissTech Convention Center, the first fully-modular congress center in Europe. A dramatic new addition to the EPFL campus, this congress center incorporates renewable energies in the most efficient way possible. Water from Lac Léman and geothermal pillars supporting the structure of the building are used for heating and cooling. In addition, Grätzel photovoltaic panels on the western facade of the building simultaneously produce electricity and prevent the inside of the center from overheating.
We have no doubt that you will have an unforgettable experience!
