Reconstruction of air pollution and climate from Andean ice cores

The project builds on successful Chilean-Swiss collaborations established over the last ten years. Using existing ice cores from high-mountain glaciers, the main scientific objectives are the reconstruction of past climate conditions and the investigation of past and present air pollution in Central Chile. Activities include exchange of scientists, capacity building, and training, joint field work, and fostering Swiss-Chilean cooperation in selected high-profile international research networks and climate from Andean ice cores.
