“Seed Money: Experiences, Achievements and Impact”
Thursday, 30 October 2014, 9:00 – 12:30
Venue: Room BC 420, EPFL Campus
The Seed Money Program (SMP) of the Cooperation and Development Center (CODEV) at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) was established in 2005 aiming at encouraging scientific cooperation with partners in the global South through grants awarded in a competitive annual call to EPFL researchers.
With 9 Calls launched so far (2006-2014), the SMP has funded 73 projects from EPFL researchers with partners in more than 30 different countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe with a total of 721’412 CHF granted so far. The projects have promoted technology applications responding to the needs of local communities in Southern countries while strengthening capacities and expanding networks to the benefit of all partners concerned.
The objective of the 1st. Seed Money Conference is to increase the visibility of the SMP among the EPFL community, as well as to provide an exchange and network platform in which EPFL researchers and their partners participating in the program can discuss their experiences during project development and implementation, the results achieved and impact generated.
The conference is free of charge and open to all professors, scientists and students interested in North-South scientific cooperation and partnerships, those involved in research funding and the wider researcher and academic community.
