EPFL’s mandate on Vietnam was part of the broader task of exploring the science and technology landscape in the Asia-Pacific region and was conducted by ETHZ. The main objective of EPFL’s mandate was to lead exploratory activities with Vietnam, aimed at identifying promising research partners, country-specific topics and instruments of collaboration.
Three calls were organised in the 2013-2016 period:
Calls for pilot activities 2014-2015
A first call for Pilot Activities with Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam was organized jointly by ETHZ and EPFL in 2014. The call was open to researchers from all federal and cantonal universities, universities of applied science, teacher training universities and public research institutions. 6 projects received funding.
Call for Seed Money grants 2015-2016
In 2015, a second call for Seed Money grants for projects with selected Asian countries was organised by ETHZ in collaboration with EPFL. 3 projects focussed on health received funding.
Call for Seed Money projects with selected Asian countries 2016-2017
A third call for Seed Money grants, open for activities in all scientific disciplines and fields of research for projects with selected Asian countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, was organised in 2016 by ETHZ in collaboration with EPFL. A total of 8 projects for activities with Vietnam received funding.
