ORGANIC THIN FILM SOLAR CELLS BASED ON NEAR INFRARED ABSORBING COLORANTS
The development of efficient solar cells based on NIR absorbing colorants and fullerenes is the challenging goal of the project. Therefore on one side, novel tailor-made colorants will be synthesized and characterized. On the other side, model bilayer and bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) devices will be manufactured.
The charge generation and collection mechanisms will be investigated with hightly specialized methods (e.g. light induced electron spin resonance, electrically detected magnetic resonance). This way, the microscopic issues can be identified and solar cell performance can be improved.
