The cooperation@epfl unit has the mission to organize scientific development cooperation within the EPFL in all the faculties and using all disciplines represented on the campus.
Organizing scientific development cooperation within the EPFL requires setting up of a specific structure which will make it possible to amplify the EPFL's research and educational activities in the cooperation domain, highlight them nationally and internationally, and boost the amount and diversity of external funding. The Cooperation@epfl unit's objectives are:
to launch major inter-School and interdisciplinary scientific development cooperation projects at the EPFL, in partnership with scientific institutions in the emerging and developing countries
to coordinate scientific cooperation activities conducted by the various EPFL units and foster synergies with other Swiss universities
to enhance scientific cooperation between EPFL schools and scientific disciplines
to produce excellent scientific results and diffuse them through specialized peer review publications
to represent and promote the EPFL cooperation sector in all scientific institutions both in Switzerland and abroad, and in dealings with Swiss and foreign financial donors and with Swiss and international cooperation authorities
to establish a scientific and strategic partnership with the Secretariat of State for Education and Research, enabling the latter to define the priority countries and institutions in which the EPFL will act as a driving force in their relations with Swiss universities (e.g. Chile, India, South Africa, North Africa)
to take part in relevant research and educational networks, both in Switzerland and abroad
to develop an approach and a methodology for scientific partnerships with institutions in emerging and developing countries
to introduce and implement a coherent fundraising strategy for scientific development cooperation activities conducted by the EPFL and its partners
